More About Lisa

Thank you for visiting my web site and for your interest in learning more about me and my law firm.

I grew up in the Dutch Fork area and graduated from Irmo High School in 1987. My family roots are in Newberry, South Carolina and Louisiana, where I was born. I graduated with an English Degree from Clemson University in 1991, and from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1995.

Words that best describe my personal values are honesty, compassion, justice, equality, civility, loyalty and integrity. For balance in a world of increasing pace and rush to provide services, I keep a sticky note on my computer screen that says: “Deliberate and accurate are more important than a fast finish.” I enjoy working on both the details and the big picture of a situation to find a balanced perspective.

Working as an attorney is a professional calling and an honor that I do not take for granted. I am AV rated by Martindale Hubbell. I am thankful for my career and those that have mentored me and partnered with me along the way as I worked first as a Judicial Law Clerk for Judge William P. Keelsey in the South Carolina Circuit Courts, then as an associate and long-time partner with the Lexington law firm of Davis Frawley, LLC and its predecessor firms, then as a founding partner in the Chapin law firm of Smith & Sullivan, LLC, and since 2019 as a solo practitioner with the Lisa Lee Smith Law Firm, LLC.

Civic involvement and service in the community are very important to me. I currently serve on the board for the Chapin We Care Center and I am a member of the Dutch Fork Choral Society. I am an active member of the Rotary Club of Chapin Sunrise, where I am a Past President and served for three years as an Assistant District Governor. I am a Past President of the Lexington County Bar Association and served for 24 years on the House of Delegates with the South Carolina Bar. Previously, I served as chair and member of the Lawyers’ Fund for Client Protection Committee, as a member of the Nominating Committee, Professional Responsibility Committee the Professional Potential Task Force, the Judicial Qualifications Committee the Law Related Education Committee and as a Mock Trial Judge. I am also a member of the South Carolina Women Lawyers Association, the Alternative Dispute Resolution Section and the Solo/Small Firm Section of the South Carolina Bar Association.

Lisa Lee Smith Attorney

My three children are young adults now and pursuing their professional goals. I am so proud of them and their accomplishments! When they were younger, I enjoyed serving as a Girl Scout Troop Leader, T-Ball Coach, and Mock Trial Coach. I have loved cheering them in all their endeavors from marching bands, to various sports teams, and now as they build lives of their own.

During my free time, I enjoy playing pickleball, bird watching, singing in Choir, and watching the Lady Gamecocks Basketball team win!
